The Gourmet Trail
“Tasmania is renowned for its world-class produce. The region has a wide range of gourmet goods, including honey, chocolate, raspberries, wine and cheese.”
For the first few stops, head towards Deloraine, then detour south along Montana Road and check out Three Willows Vineyard, Tasmanian Pure Smallgoods and 41 Degrees South Salmon Farm. Sample the delicious products and pick up some supplies for later.
Return to Mole Creek Road and turn left and then right onto Bengeo Road (C163), which winds through pretty countryside and meets up with Bass Highway at Elizabeth Town. Turn right onto the highway, then left to visit the Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm Cafe for morning tea or lunch. Here you can purchase fresh raspberries (in season) and raspberry products.
Take Bass Highway north and after a few kilometres you will find Ashgrove Farm Cheeses. Sample the wide range of cheeses produced on the property, as well as other local Tasmanian delicacies.
Next stop is the House of Anvers Chocolate Factory, home to delicious handmade chocolates, truffles and fudge. Here you can sample some of the sweet treats before deciding what to buy. There's afternoon tea available in the cafe and a fabulous array of cakes.
Enjoy a leisurely drive back to Mole Creek for a relaxed evening meal or a picnic with the wonderful local delicacies you have picked up along the way.
